After international courier services left Russia, it became popular to transfer papers and parcels from Russia to Mexico with convenience. Someone is flying to Mexico and is ready to take your transmission with them, free of charge or for a fee. Currently, this is the main channel for the delivery of private shipments from Russia to Mexico. We ourselves used it to transfer papers, but decided to write this publication after one case of unsuccessful delivery.
On flights to Mexico, Turkish Airlines' ticket price includes the transportation of two pieces of checked baggage, each weighing 23 kg. Not everyone needs 46 kg of luggage when traveling. The second suitcase can be sold by the kilogram in order to at least partially recoup the cost of an expensive air ticket. And then offers like this appear on the Internet: “I’ll take a parcel to Mexico of 3 kg for a fee.” Those who do not have enough space in their luggage offer transportation of light cargo such as packages with documents.
The problem with private shipping is that delivery cannot be guaranteed. More precisely, delivery cannot be guaranteed if the transportation is carried out by a tourist and not a resident of Mexico. Cases of denied boarding on flights to Mexico have become very noticeable not only among Turkish Airlines, but also among other airlines. Therefore, there are more and more requests on the Internet for delivery with the note “only residents of Mexico.” Because a resident of Mexico is guaranteed entry into the country, and a guest of the country — at the discretion of first the airline, then the migration service.
Denial of boarding a flight or entry into Mexico can have serious consequences when it comes to urgent delivery of documents, which, moreover, if lost, will be difficult to recover. Transferring medications also requires responsibility.
The content of the program is also important. The import of a number of goods into Mexico is prohibited or limited, even for personal consumption. Such goods will simply be taken away, without consequences for the person who imports them. But this will be a loss for the sender, albeit a small one. For other goods you will have to pay import duty, for example, on a second laptop or a fourth phone. To be fair, we note that only every fourth passenger is subject to customs inspection, and the inspection can be carried out quite superficially and without confiscation of goods. But the threat is working.
Now we do not see any real alternatives to private arrangements for the delivery of papers and parcels to Mexico from Russia, if we are talking about urgent delivery. Russian Post delivers parcels to Mexico, but very slowly. Schemes with forwarding through SDEK offices in third countries work, but fail. Therefore, we will have to continue to use the services of private individuals. You just need to be more careful about their choice and evaluate the chances of entering Mexico. If a tourist flies to Mexico, it is mandatory not only to have a return ticket, but also to have a hotel reservation (Turkish Airlines requires that the reservation be paid for). We will leave the question of what migration intentions the Mexican migration service has the right to suspect of a traveler when they see two suitcases on him.
There are no problems with private delivery from Mexico to Russia, because a Russian citizen will be allowed into the country of citizenship under any circumstances.
