According to the visa regulations in force at all Mexican consulates, the maximum period for consideration of an application for a simple visa (country guest)consular visaequals 10 working days. But this does not mean that you can obtain a visa to Mexico only after 10 days.
If on the day of submitting documents:
- provided the diplomatic mission with a complete package of documents,
- paid the visa fee,
- successfully passed the interview,
- your visa application does not require additional verification by the immigration service,
the visa will be approved and issued within the period1 working day— same or next day.
Payment of the visa fee (US$56, 2026) is made on the day of submission of documentation for a Mexico visa. The entry ban into Mexico is verified during an interview with the consul.
If:
- the papers were prepared incorrectly,
- the set of papers is incomplete,
- additional confirmation is required,
you will be asked to return corrected or missing papers on any business day before the end of the 10 day period. After this, the visa opening process will be completed and the visa will be issued within 1 day.
If:
- your visa application requires additional verification by the Immigration Service,
- your application for a work or company visa requires additional verification by the Mexican employer or company,
The period for opening a visa is extended until the end of verification according to the type of visa — most often, up to the same 10 working days.
In most cases, after successfully passing the interview, the consular department will inform you when it is possible to pick up your passport with a visa.
