Visa when purchasing a tour to Mexico – Passport and Visas

When selling tours to Mexico, some government agencies offer assistance in obtaining a Mexican visa. We are talking about a Mexican visa, not an electronic permit to enter the country. You can make an electronic permit yourself, but you should apply for a visa at the diplomatic mission. But purchasing a tour does not mean that a visa for it will be automatically issued to you.

Of the residents of the countries of the former USSR, only citizens of Ukraine and Russia (electronic permission is enough for them) and the Baltic countries (they generally have visa-free entry) do not need a visa to enter Mexico. Residents of the remaining 10 countries of the former USSR, and now the CIS, need a consular visa to visit Mexico.

It's easiest for Belarusians. There is no Mexican embassy in Minsk, and for a visa they need to apply to the Mexican embassy in Moscow. But they are also able to open a Mexican visa through a travel agency in Belarus, and you do not need to go to Moscow. More about thisHere. Citizens of Belarus already receive Mexican visas without any problems. It doesn’t matter how the visa is issued: for a trip on a tour or for an independent trip, through a travel agency or in person in Moscow — A Belarusian will be given a Mexican visa.

It is more difficult for citizens of other CIS countries to obtain a visa to Mexico. Firstly, you should only apply to the consular department for a visa in person. You cannot get a visa through a travel agency. Secondly, Mexican consulates are located in other countries, and you will have to go there.

The maximum that a travel agency can help — He will tell you what documents are needed for a visa and how they should be prepared, fill out the visa application form correctly, that is, together with you he will form the correct package of papers for submission to the consular department. Those travel agencies that falsify certificates for the consulate do not last long.

For citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, purchasing a tour to Mexico does not provide absolutely any advantages when obtaining a Mexico visa. Purchasing a tour is not considered a guarantee that a visa to Mexico will be given at all.

Consulate officials are well aware that many people travel to Mexico with the goal of then getting to the United States. You come to the consulate and say that you want to go on vacation to Mexico. In doing so you:

  • have never been abroad,
  • you don’t know any foreign language,
  • traveling with the whole family with small children,
  • fly on a tour from another country, because there are no tours to Mexico from yours.

Do you trust yourself? And why immediately Mexico? Why not Türkiye or Egypt, where there are fewer flights and a vacation that is much cheaper?

When obtaining a visa, it is important to look like a real traveler in the eyes of the consular officer:

  • have a certificate of employment with a sufficient salary and a bank account statement with a certain amount,
  • show stamps in your passport from previous trips abroad,
  • convince that something is keeping you in your homeland, in particular, you have property in your country and someone will be waiting for your return.

Just because you have enough money to buy a tour to Mexico does not mean that you are a wealthy tourist. Just complete all visa document requirements and don't waste your money on the tour. You can be given a visa without purchasing a tour. Or give a more compelling reason to travel to Mexico than just vacation.

The fact that Mexico denies visas to residents of the Central Asian republics — this is a myth. Normal travelers are always given visas. In our opinion, many are simply too lazy to get off the couch and start getting visas; they are scared by the very need to contact a foreign diplomatic mission. Others believe that it is possible to buy a visa — another mistake. Still others do not want to go to Istanbul or Tehran for a visa. Errors in documents happen very often, but as a result, the diplomatic mission is still to blame — didn't give me a visa.

Buying a tour to Mexico can only have an advantage compared to organizing the trip yourself. Often you can buy a tour cheaper than booking flights, hotels, paying for meals and transfers on your own. But if the tour is needed only to obtain a visa, you are risking money — you buy a tour, but they still won’t issue you a visa.

And one more thing. Residents of Central Asian countries are often denied entry into Mexico even if they have a visa — This is true. At the same time, there is a greater chance of getting to Mexico with a Mexican visa, and not with a Schengen visa. The decisive factor whether you will be allowed into Mexico or not is how much you fit the image of a real guest of the country:

  • do you have all the required confirmations to enter the country (return ticket, hotel reservation, cash support),
  • were you able to convince the officer at passport control of the travel purpose of your visit by answering his questions?
