A short publication about what requirements your UK visa must meet in order to be able to enter Mexico.
Mexico allows entry into the country with a UK visa. According to Article 26 of the Migration Guidelines and Requirements, holders of a valid UK visa are exempt from the need to apply for a Mexico visa. The information on entering Mexico with a UK visa provided in this publication applies to nationalseveryonenationalities. With a British visa, entry is possible for any purpose of travel — tourist or business (non-commercial activity) for a period of up to 6 months, and in addition for the purpose of transit.
1. To enter Mexico, most types of UK visa are suitable, including tourist, visitor (formerly C, now Standard Visitor visa), family, student or work (Tier). Transit, of course, will not work, nor will so-called visas to England.
2. The visa must be marked MULT — The visa must allow for multiple entries into the UK. However, now almost all Standard Visitor visas are issued for multiple entries.
3. It does not matter for how long the visa was issued — for 6 months, 2, 5 or 10 years.
4. Valid until is important. You must enter Mexico before the end of your UK visa, otherwise your visa will not be considered valid.
5. The validity of your visa may not cover the duration of your stay in Mexico. The immigration officer decides how many days to allow you to stay in Mexico. The closer to the end of your visa you enter Mexico, the fewer days he can give you, although this is not a rule. There are many examples where a UK visa expires in a week, but a visitor to the country is still allowed to stay in Mexico for 180 days.
If your UK visa meets these requirements, you can enter Mexico on it.
6. It is not necessary to visit the UK on this visa before arriving in Mexico.
7. Unlike an electronic permit, a UK visa allows you to enter Mexico by any means of transport: by plane, car or yacht.
8. A British visa, like a Mexican visa or any other, does not guarantee entry into the country. Citizenship is more important than a visa. Citizens of a number of countries, such as Uzbekistan or Turkmenistan, may be denied entry into Mexico, and the problem will not be a visa, but a citizenship issue.
9. Entry into Mexico depends more on your citizenship than your visa. Even if your UK visa is suitable for entry into Mexico, you may still be refused entry.
10. If you are a citizen of Ukraine or Russia and you have a UK visa, we still advise making an electronic permit. Migration officers at passport control are more familiar with electronic permits than with UK visas.
