Mexico has started issuing electronic visas. At the moment, such visas are available to citizens of 4 countries: Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and Brazil. Over time, the list of countries will be expanded.
Electronic visa — This is a new type of visa for Mexico and was introduced in 2026. The visa is valid for 180 days from the date of issue and allows one-time entry into Mexico by air only (not valid when entering by land or sea). The period of permitted stay in the country, as before, is determined by the migration officer upon entry.
It is possible to obtain an electronic visa herewebsite. You will need to register, fill out a form, upload a digital photo and a scan of your passport, and pay the visa fee online. The visa will be issued immediately upon payment of the visa fee. If you receive a refusal, you can contact the Mexican diplomatic mission to apply for a regular visa stuck in your passport.
The visa fee reaches 182.16 MXN or 10 US dollars.
The e-visa contains QR — code. The visa can be printed or downloaded to an electronic device and shown from the device upon arrival.
At the moment, citizens of Ukraine and Russia still have the opportunity to create a free electronic authorization (SAE) to enter Mexico. But, as we wrote earlier, in May 2026 the electronic permit will be canceled, and in order to enter Mexico you will need to obtain an electronic visa.
As before, holders of long-term visas from the USA, Canada, Schengen countries, Great Britain, Japan, and in addition permanent residence permits in these and a number of other countries have the opportunity to enter Mexico without a visa.
