When purchasing a tour to Mexico, keep in mind that only a few travel operators offer their own package tours on direct flights. Most sell tours from these several operators or combine transportation and accommodation services from different providers into their own travel package, but on scheduled airline flights with transfers.
The tour package has a number of mandatory elements, the key ones being — destination, transport to this place, accommodation services (hotel), transfer. The destination under such circumstances is considered to be Mexico, or more precisely, the resorts of its Caribbean coast.
Only two guest power operators have the right to organize their own transport to their destination from Russia, and one — from Ukraine. And without a transfer, on direct flights of our own airlines. Before the start of the pandemic, the Russian tour operator Coral Travel / Sunmar also conducted tours to Mexico, providing transportation with the escort of its Royal Flight airline. However, Royal Flight planes are currently not flying to Cancun, and the tour operator has not yet announced any intentions to resume tours to Mexican resorts.
Most other tour operators offer tours to Mexico with connections on scheduled airlines. In November, Aeroflot will begin flying from Moscow to Cancun, and tour operators will begin sending guests of the powers on its flights, but this does not change the essence: in the cost of a tour on flights of regular airlines, the price of air travel is specified separately. On the other hand, the service and punctuality of scheduled airlines is often much higher than that of charter airlines.
Transfer from the airport to the hotel and back is not included in the tour price. The transfer is included for those operators that send a large flow of tourists to Mexico on flights of their own airlines. Then travelers are met at the airport by a tour operator bus with a guide. The bus takes tourists to all hotels. The guide helps you settle in and holds a so-called meeting, during which he explains the conditions of your stay in Mexico and tries to sell excursions. If the transfer is not included in the tour price, it can be ordered separately. Most often, it will be a minivan, but there will be no accompanying guide with it, and you will have to check into the hotel yourself. But consider that this is an individual transfer.
Medical insurance is mandatory, therefore all tour operators include it in the tour price.
Tour operators that offer tours to Mexico on regular airline flights actually do the work for the guest of the country. You yourself can buy airfare, book a hotel, take a taxi from the airport, buy excursions on the spot and have a wonderful vacation on the beach. Perhaps, in this case, your costs for organizing a tour will be even lower than when purchasing an already formed travel package. But you bear all the preparatory work and responsibility for your trip yourself.
But in order to buy an inexpensive tour, the responsibility for which is the responsibility of the tour operator, take into account the package offers of those companies that organize tours to Mexico on their own direct flights. Organizers of group tours do not divide the tour price into segments (airplane/hotel/transfer). The prices of their package tours to Mexico are sometimes lower than the cost of the airfare itself.
