We would like to tell you about an air route from Europe to Mexico, which few people know about. Polish airline LOT operates direct flights from Poland to the Mexican resort of Cancun. Charter flights are carried out by order of Polish travel agencies. You will not find tickets for them on aggregator sites. But tickets can be bought on travel agency websites.
LOT flew from Warsaw to Cancun long before the coronavirus epidemic. We flew these flights several times in 2017 and 2018. And after the epidemic, due to high demand, the airline added flights to Mexico from Katowice and Poznan. Under current conditions, these flights are unlikely to suit Russians. But they are very suitable for Ukrainians, for whom getting to Poland will not be difficult.
The price is based on a round trip (RT); you usually cannot buy a one-way ticket. You cannot buy a ticket departing from Cancun either. You can only pay by credit card. The fare includes transportation of 23 kg checked baggage and hot meals on board.
On some flights, the low price is only available when purchasing tickets for two. Another feature of these flights — You can choose a return ticket after a maximum of 2 weeks. And almost always a low price — only for upcoming flights, which is rare with regular airlines. This is the specificity of travel charters. Travel agencies buy blocks of seats from LOT, and when they cannot fill them with organized travelers, they put them up for free sale.
LOT flies to Cancun on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, designed to carry 294 passengers in three classes of service: 24 business class seats, 21 premium economy seats and 249 economy class seats.
Some will say that it is cheaper to fly from Poland to Brussels and then take a Tui flight to Cancun. Perhaps, but not always. But for some reason even Ukrainians fly to Mexico via Istanbul on Turkish Airlines with their exorbitant prices.
LOT often has the opportunity to find flights to Cancun for $550-600 round trip. We are sure that there will be those who want to use these flights only to fly to Cancun, and after passing through passport control, forget about the return ticket. After all, Mexico's formal requirement to have a return ticket has been met.
