Option 1. Luggage only
The simplest path: bring personal items in suitcases. Airlines let you pay for extra baggage. Good for those traveling light and buying furniture locally.
Option 2. International box shipping
Companies (DHL, FedEx, specialized moving firms) deliver boxes door to door. Convenient for medium volumes. Factor in duties on new goods.
Option 3. Container (for big moves)
A sea container makes sense for furniture and large volumes from the US/Europe. It is expensive and slow (weeks) and needs a customs broker.
Menaje de casa — duty-free import
Menaje de casa is a resident right to import household goods once duty-free (used furniture, appliances, personal items). It is arranged through a Mexican consulate in your departure country with an inventory. It is important to do this correctly and in advance.
