The following goods have restrictions for import into the customs territory of Mexico by individuals or forwarding by postal and courier services to individuals. These restrictions may apply to the following situations:
- shipment: the entire range listed is prohibited or there are quantitative restrictions;
- import for own consumption: a selective assortment is allowed for personal import, there are quantitative restrictions;
- import in import mode: a selective assortment is allowed after preliminary completion of customs procedures and payment of customs duties and taxes; the presence of a customs agent is mandatory.
The marks next to the product name mean the following:
- no mark— the goods are prohibited for shipment, but can be imported for personal consumption in limited quantities or under import mode,
- «import only»— the goods are prohibited for shipment and personal import for personal consumption, but have the right to be imported in the import mode,
- «total ban»— The product is completely prohibited for shipment and import into Mexico. In some cases, importation is possible in the import mode after obtaining the appropriate license (most often, it is not possible for individuals to obtain such a license).
In some cases, consultation with the customs authority is necessary.

Limited assortment
- Animals and animal products:
- fur,
- genuine leather products,
- live and dead animals, except domestic dogs and cats, accompanied by the owner — import only,
- frog legs — import only,

- human remains: remains, bones, etc. — complete ban
- laboratory tests/samples: blood, urine, etc. — complete ban.
- Selected products of plant origin:
- cocoa leaves,
- herbs/natural plant products,
- wheat or corn — import only,

- soil, clay, sand — import only.
- Food products:
- coffee and tea,
- chocolate and candies, non-industrial candies,
- spices containing chili peppers,
- nuts, peanuts,
- flavorings,
- honey,
- canned food (seafood, shellfish, dairy products and any canned animal products for human consumption),
- juices and drinks,
- alcoholic drinks and liqueurs,
- snack products,
- gelatin (with or without taste or color),
- jellies, jams, purees and fruit spreads,
- fresh fruits and vegetables — import only,
- meat and fish products, sausages, milk and its derivatives —more details.
- Tobacco, tobacco products and accessories:
- tobacco and tobacco products, cigars and cigarettes,
- electronic cigarettes and vipers, liquids, mixtures and accessories for them —complete ban,
- lighters of all types,
- Products for children:
- building designers,
- exercise equipment,
- rubber nipples,
- tactile toys,
- toys representing humans (Barbie) or robots, with or without battery power,
- therapeutic and educational toys,
- remote control toys,
- toys simulating spacecraft or firearms,
- toys simulating slot machines, casinos or lotteries,
- toys for children 0 — 3 years
- pencils of all types,
- school supplies for children under 3 years old,
- inflatable balloons,
- new furniture made of natural wood, incl. painted — import only.
- Medicines, medical products and equipment:
- medications, vaccines, hormones,
- vitamins and nutritional supplements — may be requiredsanitary reportCOFEPRIS (Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks), which will significantly complicate the purchase of the parcel,
- antiseptic or bactericidal substances,
- dressings, fabrics, cotton and absorbent materials,
- materials impregnated or coated with pharmaceutical products,
- contraceptive systems and pregnancy detection kits,
- prosthetics and products for people with disabilities (hearing aids, dentures, contact lenses, crutches, etc.),
- equipment and devices for therapeutic massage and physiotherapy,
- testers (for measuring blood pressure, sugar levels, temperature, etc.) and first aid kits,
- materials for dentistry, ophthalmology and orthopedics, implants and prostheses (breasts, teeth, eyes, hands, etc.) — import only,
- medical equipment — import only,
- narcotic and psychotropic substances: opium, medicinal raw materials (powder, liquid), hemp leaves, etc. — complete ban.
- Beauty products:
- air fragrances and candles, bed linen fresheners,
- aromatherapy products,
- body and hair care products,
- cosmetics,
- perfumes for men,
- razors for men,
- bath products,
- sanitary tampons,
- toiletries.
Any skin care products: it is necessary to provide a certificate from the manufacturer.
Any aromatics and perfumes: ID, CURP and confirmation of the recipient's home address must be given, and in addition a power of attorney to the agent (Carta Encomienda).
- Household goods:
- chemical polishes (powder, liquid or gel),
- oil and candle lanterns,
- candles, paraffin or wax,
- new and used furniture made of natural wood, incl. painted — import only.
- Other industrial products:
- any products made of genuine leather,
- asbestos clothing,
- inner tubes and valves for pneumatic tires,
- tires for used cars — import only,
- any machines and mechanisms used for production purposes — import only.
Shipping and personal import of new tires 14″, 15″ are allowed. and 16″ only for own consumption no more than 5 pieces per year.
- Drones weighing more than 2 kg and priced more than $300 — import only.
For drones weighing up to 2 kg and priced under $300: shipping or personal import for personal use is possible, up to 2 pieces per year with a cover letter confirming non-commercial use. The value of all goods shipped or imported in a particular shipment must not exceed $300.
- Chemical products:
- repellents,
- powders, granules, liquids and gels — import only,
- alcohol, incl. medical purpose, dry ice — import only,
- fertilizers and plant protection products — import only.
- Jewelry and precious metals over $2000:
- jewelry — import only,
- gems — import only,
- silver products — import only,
- ivory products — import only,
- watch — import only.
- Antiques and works of art:
- items older than a hundred years — import only,
- paintings, works of art — import only,
- collectibles — import only.
- Cash, coins, bonds, checks, etc.
- Counterfeit goods (piracy and counterfeiting) — complete ban.
- Pornographic products (all types): CD, DVD, cars, toys, printed
products, etc. — complete ban. - Firearms and accessories, knives, military equipment, etc. — complete ban.
