How to speed up the entry of child data into the civil registry of Mexico - Childbirth in Mexico

There are cases when a child’s birth certificate in Mexico has already been received, but the corresponding entry in the civil registry (registro civil) has not yet been made. This has the potential to complicate obtaining certified copies of a child’s birth certificate, international passport, and for parents and relatives — their acquisition of a residence permit upon the birth of a child.

Even a month after purchasing a birth certificate, there may still be no entry about the child in the civil registry. The entry of a child into the Mexican civil registry (civil registry) can and should be expedited! But first you should make sure that there really is no entry about the child in the registry, and at the same time check that all the entered data is correct. You can do this on thispage, click on the button opposite the option «Acta de nacimiento en línea». You will need to log in usingLlave MX. If the child’s birth certificate is not in the system, it means that the data about him or her have either not yet been entered into the register, or the child is registered under other data, say, in first names, last names and other data one sign of another.

To speed up the entry of data about a child into the civil register, you need to write a letter in free form to the directorate of the Sistema de Impresión de Actas Interestatales (SIDEA). The letter must include the following information and attach scanned copies in PDF format:

  • CURP+ scanned copy (if available)
  • Full name(s), first surname, second surname
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • State, municipality and registro civil office where the birth certificate was issued
  • Birth certificate number and case number in the civil registry
  • Scanned copy of birth certificate

In the subject line of the letter you must indicate «Solicitud de incorporación de acta».

The letter must be sent to one of the email addresses listed below for each specific state. To be on the safe side, you are also allowed to call. Typically, after sending the letter and completing the response, entry into the civil registry takes up to 10 days.
