A certified copy of a birth certificate issued in Mexico may be needed in many cases. Most often, it is enough to offer such a copy to the Mexican government authorities, and not the original document. But foreign consulates require an apostilled original certificate with a certified translation.
A certified copy is also called a certified copy (Copia certificada). It has the same legal force as the original issued by the Mexican Civil Registry (Registro civil), in other wordsthe certified copy and the original are completely equivalent. The copy contains a QR code and an electronic identifier. All government bodies have the technical ability to check the copy and compare the data indicated in it with the entry in the Civil Register. Next, you need to make an online payment using a card or print a receipt and pay it through a bank, OXXO stores, etc. Most often, payments from a card are processed instantly, but when paying through OXXO, the payment can take 72 hours.
After confirming the payment (the system itself will see it), you will receive a download link, which will allow you to save a certified copy of the birth certificate in PDF format to your computer. You must download within 24 hours from the receipt of payment, otherwise the link will be deactivated. After this, a copy can be printed on any printer on white paper and presented according to the local regulations.
Please note that the certified copy has an expiration date and shows the date of issue. In this regard, it is better to purchase it when necessary, and not in advance, or find out from the government agency what date such a copy should be issued. During the validity period, the copy can be used an unlimited number of times.

The cost of obtaining a certified copy of a birth certificate online varies from state to state in Mexico. In the state of Quintana Roo (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum) the price is 43 MXN ($2). In other states the rates will be different.
