(later information appeared that all Aeroflot foreign flights have been canceled since March 8)
The Russian airline Aeroflot will continue to fly from Moscow to the Mexican resort of Cancun twice a week. Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. From April, the airline will switch to a spring/summer schedule, adding two more flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
As we have already written, the route will be changed to circumvent restrictions imposed by the United States, Canada and EU powers on flights of Russian airlines in connection with the war in Ukraine. After departure from Moscow, the plane heads to the north of Russia, enters the neutral waters of the Norwegian Sea through Murmansk, without crossing the borders of Iceland and Greenland, and continues to fly over the neutral waters of the Atlantic to the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula.
The flight duration has increased to almost 14 hours, and air ticket prices have also increased. Cost reductions are allowed after the number of flights to Mexico increases.
Previously, Aeroflot announced the suspension of flights to Mexico, but on March 2 it carried out a flight on which it carried out passengers who had flown to Mexico earlier. Aeroflot's next flight from Moscow to Cancun is scheduled to take place on March 5.
Other air carriers associated with tour operators — Azur Air and Nordwind — No announcements have yet been made about the resumption of flights to Mexico.
At the moment, Mexico remains one of the few countries in the world where there are no entry restrictions — A coronavirus test and vaccination certificate are not required. In addition, the government recently announced that citizens of Ukraine and Russia will be able to obtain asylum. Already, Ukrainians and Russians are having their visitor visas automatically extended, and conditions for granting refugee status may be announced in the near future. To acquire this status, you must be on Mexican territory.
Let us remind you that to enter Mexico, citizens of Ukraine and Russia only need to obtain a free electronic permit.
