Russia has extended the validity of its e-visa to 120 days and increased the length of stay to 30 days - Migration News

From August 23, 2025, new rules for a unified electronic visa (e-Visa) will come into force in Russia. The President signed Federal Law No. 257-FZ, which provides for a significant extension of the terms of its validity — from 60 to 120 days from the date of registration, and the maximum period of stay in the country on this visa increases from 16 to 30 days.

Previously, the validity period of a Russian e-visa was 60 days, and the permitted stay in the country — up to 16 days.

Russian unified electronic visa (e-Visa) — it is a simplified and fully digital visa regime launched in August 2023 for citizens of 64 countries, including Mexico. It is available for visiting Russia for the purpose of tourism, business, private visits, participation in cultural, sports, scientific and humanitarian events, etc. The visa requires a single entry into Russia.

To obtain such a visa, you need to apply online through the official portal of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (evisa.kdmid.ru), provide an application form, a photo, a copy of your passport and pay a visa fee ($50). The visa is issued within 4 days.

The e-visa is only valid for entry/exit through approved border crossing points.
