Mexico City Airport is the third most punctual in the world in 2025

Mexico City's Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) is ranked as the world's third most punctual airport in 2025 in the large airport category. This is stated in the annual report On-Time Performance Review 2025, prepared by the international analytics company Cirium, which specializes in the analysis of aeronautical data.

According to Cirium's methodology, a flight is considered on time if it arrives or departs within 15 minutes of the schedule. At the end of 2025, the punctuality rate of Mexico City Airport was 86.55%, which allowed the airport to take third place in the world ranking. Ahead were Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago (Chile) and King Khalid Airport in Saudi Arabia. Mexico City Airport holds third position in this ranking for the second year in a row.

The dynamics over recent years highlight the steady growth of AICM punctuality: in 2022 the figure was 76.01%, in 2023 — 79.42%, in 2024 — 84.04%, and in 2025 reached 86.55%. The improvement in performance was the result of the reorganization of slots, stricter adherence to schedules and the coordinated work of all participants in the airport process — airlines, dispatchers, ground handlers, regulators and airport authorities. The modernization and reconstruction of both terminals did not affect flight safety and flight regularity

The international recognition of AICM's punctuality takes on particular significance ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Mexico will co-host with the United States and Canada. The Mexico City airport alone is expected to handle up to 50 million passengers, including fans, teams and official delegations.
