Bacanora comes from the state of Sonora and is produced only here. The name comes from the name of one of the state's municipalities. Since 2000, the name has been protected based on geographical origin. Bocanora is similar to tequila and mezcal, but it is made only from the Pacific agave, which grows only within the region of production.

Bacanora is usually colorless and has a high alcohol content, up to 55 degrees. Most often it is produced without additives. When tasting, mineral elements stand out, which are combined with the sweetness obtained from the agave core.

Traditionally, an artisanal drink, the production of which was prohibited for many years due to high demand from the common population, is today produced on an industrial scale and exported to the USA and other countries.
