Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos)
Mexico main and most vivid holiday, November 1–2. It is not a somber event but a joyful honoring of departed loved ones: altars (ofrendas) with photos, marigold flowers (cempasúchil), food and candles. It is on the UNESCO intangible heritage list. For newcomers, it is a must-experience.
