A prerequisite for applying for Mexican citizenship is residence in the country for the last 2 years. During these 2 years, you are allowed to leave Mexico for no more than 180 days in total. The package of documents you submit for naturalization must include a letter signed by you. In this letter, you provide the dates of all your departures and entries into Mexico over the past 2 years. The dates on your letter should match the dates on the entry and exit stamps in your passport.
Here are a few situations when you cannot confirm the dates you indicate in the letter:
- you do not have the passport with which you crossed the border,
- the stamp in the passport has faded, it is impossible to determine the date of departure or entry from it,
- There is no exit or entry stamp in the passport for Mexico.
In any of these cases, you should contact the migration service and request official confirmation of information about all your exits and entries into Mexico. This confirmation is called constancia de flujo migratorio or certificado de movimientos migratorios.
There are two ways to purchase flujo migratorio.
Personal appeal to the migration service
This is the fastest way. Prepare a request letter in advance using the template below. The letter is written in free form. You cannot make an online appointment to visit the migration service office. For this reason, personally come early to the migration service office and get in line. You need to get to the information window. Show your resident card and give this letter.

According to the regulations, the migration service has 10 working days to provide you with an official flujo migratorio with data on all your exits and entries. But usually you will be asked to come back in a few days to pick up the finished document.
On the Internet
This is a slower way to acquire flujo migratorio. But you do not need to personally contact the migration service office.

According to the regulations, the collection of a document at your request should not exceed 20 calendar days. You can check your request progress or request history by logging into the site under your account and going to the Mi historial section. Although the document will be sent to you by email, you also have the opportunity to download it from the website.
If you believe that the information that the migration service provided to the flujo migratorio does not match your data, say, the dates do not match the dates in your passport, attach the following documentation to the flujo migratorio when applying for naturalization:
- tickets or boarding passes,
- a letter in free form explaining why your data does not match the data of the migration service.
But such clarification of dates most often makes no sense. Foreign Ministry employees will still take data from flujo migratorio as a basis. For this reason, it is easier to compose a letter where you inform the dates of departures and entries, based on the data of the flujo migratorio, rather than the stamps in your passport.
Although the flujo migratorio is not considered a required document for naturalization, we strongly recommend purchasing one.
