The process of acquiring citizenship is called naturalization. In general, acquiring citizenship takes from 6 months to a year, including waiting for the opinion of the National Institute of Migration and acquiring a letter of naturalization. To begin the procedure, you need to sign up and submit a package of documentation to one of the offices of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), pass mandatory exams on the history and culture of Mexico, knowledge of the Spanish language, and undergo a short interview.
