Travel insurance to Mexico not needed. You will not read about the requirement to have insurance on any Mexican official website or in any official document. Because there is no such requirement. Insurance is never asked when going through passport control upon arrival in Mexico. However, the question about insurance comes up again and again.
In the same way, insurance is not required when obtaining a Mexico travel visa and is in no way a right to obtain this visa.
Basically, travel agents or websites that sell insurance themselves write about the need to have insurance when entering Mexico. But you need to understand that Mexico — It’s not the European Union; when entering, it’s mandatory to have insurance (they don’t always ask for it). The standards for entering Mexico are completely different. If you think that having insurance will be an additional advantage and will make it easier to enter Mexico, then no, it won’t make it easier. However, having health insurance— this is a question of guaranteeing your well-being. In Mexico, free medical support is only available in emergencies and in public hospitals (which does not mean the level of care in them is low). If you suffer from any chronic disease that has the potential to worsen, or are afraid of getting sick during a trip, are used to being treated in commercial clinics, or need expensive medications, be sure to take out health insurance. It certainly won’t hurt, and you will feel more confident.
In most cases, it is easier to obtain travel health insurance while you are still in your country of citizenship. Many banks include insurance policies in their banking packages. When you have already left your home country, getting insurance will be much more difficult and expensive. While in Mexico, you will not be able to obtain insurance for medical care in the country unless you are a resident of Mexico.
